When Women Lead, Everyone Gains

At LABE, we do not have to look far to see the power of women in action. It is in every Home Learning Centre session that runs because someone showed up. Every child whose earliest learning was shaped by a caregiver’s steady presence. Every community that moved forward because a woman decided it would.

This International Women’s Day (IWD), we pause to honour the women who have enabled LABE to move forward, and to say, plainly: this work would not exist without you.

To our staff, thank you for bringing professionalism, passion, and purpose to a mission that demands all three. You are the backbone of everything we deliver.

To our Board of Directors, thank you for your leadership, your guidance, and your commitment to keeping LABE accountable to the communities we serve.

To our Parent Educators, you bridge the gap between learning and life. The trust communities place in you is a testament to who you are.

To our Home Learning Centre Management Committees, thank you for owning this work at the community level, and for ensuring that learning spaces remain rooted in local needs and local voices.

To our Village Savings and Loans Association members, your economic solidarity strengthens families and gives women the foundation to invest in learning for themselves and for their children.

To every caregiver, community woman, and learner who has walked through the doors of a Home Learning Centre, you are not just beneficiaries of this mission. You are proof of what it stands for.

The theme for IWD 2026, “Give To Gain”, speaks directly to what we witness every day: when women are given education, respect, and opportunity, the gains reach far beyond them. Into families. Into communities. Into the next generation.

LABE’s mission is to promote literacy, increase access to information, and empower women and children to demand and protect their rights. That mission lives in each of you.
